Chapter 3 (Part 2): The Internet Slangs

i've finally decided to come out with a short guide on internet slags/terms or rather, the well known -- Gaming Terms. (due to the highly increasing usage in our surroundings)

what are internet slangs/terms/gaming terms?these slangs/terms are creatively crafted by INTERNET users at first, and NOT GAMERS. (thought i would stress on that first, heh :P) they are very commonly used in internet messaging. maybe not so much over here in Malaysia, but overseas, yes. they're definitely shorthands and often appear in lower case because UPPER CASE IS RESERVERD FOR EMPHASIS AKA SHOUTING/LOUD. LOL! (you get what i mean)

so, lets start of with something easier/familiar first. *ahem*

1) (the infamous)gg : good game or also used as game gone (commonly used after a game)

2) pwned : owned. also means, destroyed with the quickness and ease with which one would destroy a new player (commonly used in every game. started from Counter Strike)

3) n00b : (typed with two zeros 00 and not OO) refers to newbies in a im-so-great-youre-lousy tone.

4) 1337 : (one-three-three-seven) also means leet. i would say is almost like a language/style itself! where "i" is replaced with 1 or and "N" can be written as "\" and so on. the word 1337 by itself is also used to refer one as "great" or "geng" (lol) too.

5) YOYO : you're on your own. well, it explains itself.

6) WYSIWYG : what you see is what you get

and of course, the commonly used ones that people may not realise they're all a part of this internet slang family:

1) lol : laugh out loud

2) ttyl : talk to you later

3) omg : oh my goodness

4) w8 : wait

5) lmao : laugh 'something' out

6) myob : mind your own business

7) fyi : for your information

8) btw : by the way

9) wtv : whatever

10) bb : bye bye

11) xoxo : [hugs and] kisses (since you all insist) and in any case, it ALSO means Extensible Open Xhtml Outlines.

12) brb : be right back

13) afk : away from keyboard

14) zzzzz : an expression used to show no interest, no comments or just sien

for an example, a conversation between A and B:

A: "abcdefg"

B: "what did you say!? zzzzz"

that concludes today's lesson. if you ever need a dictionary, click here! lol!
