Chapter 15 - The Journey to Christmas

it has been a while since my last post. this Christmas have never been busier! with so much at hand (which also means more problems), its really hard to cope but God's grace have always been sufficient.

Shirts4Real (yes, the website is now up at http://www.shirts4real.com/) launched it's FIRST range of t-shirts at Putra Stadium, Bukit Jalil on the 22nd of December. It will be there till the 24th, 8pm nightly along with Calvary Church's Christmas presentation.

the few of us like Kenneth, Brian, Esther, Sze May and myself hardly got any sleep these few days as we are soooooooooooo busy preparing for each and everyday's booth setup, etc. it's been good so far and i really thank God for friends that willingly came into the picture just to help us make the sales successful! i truly appreciate the effort everyone have put into this event.

Chapter 14 - The Rooftop

just about a year ago, around this time, i encountered God on a rooftop. it was there that God showed me my next step in life. it was there that God showed me that He is God. He gave me a new life, a new beginning.

one year has passed by so quickly. today i look back at the very same spot, i've never felt so much like a failure in my life. God gave me a new life to begin with, but i've used it very badly. i've fallen short of His glory, messed up the new beginning that i was given.

i stand here now, feeling very much like a failure. yes, there are indeed many things i've accomplished this year by His grace, but yet my life have been a failure. i've always thought i've went very far since the incident, but now that i look back, i'm not very far off. i failed.

oh Lord, hear me once again. i need You in my life to set things right. too many things have happened and i want my life to give You glory. i know i've failed. badly.

"i'm sorry Lord for the things i've made it, its all about you, its all about you, Jesus" - Heart of Worship, Matt Redman

Interlude I: Time

just thought i would share why am i so busy all the time and the stuff i have in mind at every point of time. i'll be breaking it into percentage so it'll be easier to understand :)

20% - Genesis IT Solutions & Services
10% - Shirts 4 Real
20% - personal projects
25% - youth stuff
10% - college work
10% - family stuff
5% - personal time

yes, i do have very little time for myself. 5% sums up to around 1 and a half day of personal time in 30 days. wow, kinda sad huh? oh well, God have been with me all these while and i've seen His blessings on them all. and believe me or not, He is the one leading me in this direction because i know that the moment i'm at the peak of my businesses, its time for me to go into full-time ministry. it has already been revealed to me in such a way and i'm prepared to do so.

Chapter 13 - The Taming of The Tongue

gossips-
[Proverbs 11:12-13]
12 A man who lacks judgment derides his neighbor,
but a man of understanding holds his tongue.
13 A gossip betrays a confidence,
but a trustworthy man keeps a secret.

[Proverbs 16:27-28]
27 A scoundrel plots evil,
and his speech is like a scorching fire.
28 A perverse man stirs up dissension,
and a gossip separates close friends.

isn't it fun to just talk and talk about someone that you yourself aren't sure of the facts itself?
isn't it exciting just to dig and dig around just to find out the latest news about one person where you THINK you know the facts?

well, let me give all you readers a piece of my mind.

[Romans 1:28-32] : God's Wrath Against Mankind
28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

look what category gossip falls under? wickedness, evil, greed, envy, murder, malice, slanderers, God-haters, arrogant and boastful.

seriously, don't people look for facts before they start spreading news without evidence? or even, think about what will happen if you yourself are the topic of a gossip? friends are meant to cover each other's nakedness, not expose them all! especially when you don't even have evidence of a reliable source. (that means, from the SOURCE itself!)

so, think again before you start spreading news again. i'm sure you don't want to fall in the category where verse 32 is talking about.
if only people would spread the Gospel the same way they spread gossips, there would be a revival.

ps. yes, this would be considered as my first rant. but it has indeed become a serious problem so everyone should know whats it all about.

Chapter 11 - The Pain

*phew* i've just recovered from an ordeal -- Gastric. it has never been this bad before, guess its becoming worst. in fact, this is only the 3rd time in my whole life that it happened. and yes, its very very painful.

i woke up at 8am just to find myself in pain. i thought it would wear of after awhile (like the previous 2 experiences) but no, it went on. so, being smart, i drank water, ate half a slice of bread, made milo.... and waited...

...the pain was still there!

seriously, it felt like ages in the span of 1 hour. i was sweating cold sweat on my palms and feet. occasionally i thought i'm gonna die. lol! anyway, i prayed and all i could hear was "you haven't been taking care of yourself so this is your consequences" so yea..

my mum finally noticed my agony and she brought medicine that tastes like melted-polo-sweet thingy and i'm supposed to drink 2 cups of that. the pain continued to last for another 30 minutes or so. then this thought came "maybe it isn't gastric.. might be better if i go to the doctor or worst -- the hospital". so, i got up and voila!i'm healed!

i find it very amazing though. just seconds before that i thought i'm dead but after i stood up, i was completely healed!

God works amazingly, don't you think? another evident sign that God loves us and He never forsake us. even at times when we deserve the pain, He is there watching over us, ready to catch us the moment we fall. He knows our limits and yet He still let us go through pains and problems in life. this is because He wants us to know that He is LIMITLESS and He wants us to find this power only in Him. afterall, we will only grow if life is uncomfortable, isn't it? this is what makes one stronger.

now, take some time off to thank God for all that He has done in your life. yes, without that problem/situation in your life, you will be in a position far worse than now.

be thankful for He is good and that He is always watching over YOU! :)

Chapter 10: The Celebrations!

i just thought that this would be a rather cute pic. this cat is all ready for Christmas!

[the Christmas cat] (thats what i named the file)

its kinda amazing to see malls and places putting up Christmas decorations already. even in my own home! i came back from church just to find my family setting up the tree again. this brought me to think (again)..

almost everyone is aware that Christmas is coming and its a time of celebration, fun and presents. lights and decorations everywhere and it really brings out the Christmas mood of one's self. its quite a sight because Christmas is only ONE day but places all over the world are spending so much just to decorate the place. yes, it could be a marketing thing to attract customers to shop and all but really, just take a short moment to think.

why do everyone get so excited in the first place? i mean, its just a ONE day thing. and its been like that for AGES!

well, its a joyful event for sure. especially for us that understands the true meaning of Christmas. where it isn't so much about pretty lights and presents but its all about Jesus. He came as a gift to this earth, and with that, brought joy and life to every living creature.

THIS is the source of the joy of Christmas.

Calvary Youth is taking this opportunity to share this joy, a meaningful one to everyone. If you're reading this, you're cordially invited for ALL the events below:

please bring your friends along!

1) Christmas Celebration [4th, 6th, 8th December]

we'll be screening different movies every night [7.30pm on 4th and 6th, 7.00pm on the 8th] along with dinner! this one particular movie: Facing the Giants is very very good. bring your friends for this one, really. don't miss it!

2) Christmas Musical Special [15th December]

a Christmas presentation that you wouldn't regret coming to! an event where every young person should come and see for yourself. light refreshments will be served along with a major gift exchange event too! keep this date free! ;)

3) The Joy of Christmas [22nd - 24th December]

yet another Christmas presentation by Calvary Church. it will be held in Putra Stadium, Bukit Jalil so you can expect a major Christmas production that will bring you a whole new perspective of Christmas!

in conclusion, keep your December free! you shouldn't be missing all of these events! for more information, just leave me a message or email me! :)

ps. something else will be on from 22nd - 24th December at Putra Stadium too! stay tuned to find out! ;)

Chapter 9: The Seminar

hey all! yes yes, it has been ANOTHER busy week. this time filled with assignments, seminars, problems and new business opportunities. assignments, not difficult, just very troublesome and lots to do (still procastinating). problems, bleh. seminars...

i've been in a 2-full-day internet marketing seminar, organized by my trainer in taman tun. i had to help him teach the attendees, guide them, etc. hopefully some will eventually become my clients in the future ;)

business opportunities for Genesis IT Solutions & Services (http://www.genesis-solutions.org) ahhh.. finally something nicer to talk about. just 2-3 weeks after the Seagate Data Recovery partnership and i've found myself a new avenue -- web hosting. my friend has a dedicated server that is parked in Singapore doing nothing. being myself, i approached him and suggested we should do some business together with his server and we've eventually sort out terms to do web hosting. :) this means, Genesis IT Solutions & Services will have another new department by January 2008! thank God for opportunities!

it is really amazing to see God work. to see how 2007 began and how it is going to end, i can tell you that God is indeed a miracle working God. :) trust in Him and ALL will fall in to place, really.

really!

Chapter 8: The Department

Genesis IT Solutions & Services finally have its own data recovery department -- Genesis Recovery Solutions (http://www.datarecoverymalaysia.com/)! go check the website out. it might educate some of you regarding data recovery services. :)

okay, i'm sure most of you should know by now that we've recently established a partnership program with Seagate Recovery Services through ReTriv Systems. ReTriv Systems is the one that brought Seagate Recovery Services to the Asia Region and its based in Singapore. today, Genesis IT Solutions & Services will be Seagate Recovery Services' base in Malaysia! :)

oh btw, Shirts4Real is moving along quite well too! remember the corporate company i was talking about few posts back? the designs have been approved. now its time for quotations and price fights with other companies. hopefully we'll get through this stage as well.

God has been really good as His hands are really upon Genesis IT Solutions and Shirts4Real. all glory unto Him!

Chapter 7 (Part 2): The Birthdays..Again

today was really really stressful. woke up in the morning just to find out that our supplier left overseas without leaving the stock we needed behind! joel and i spent the entire morning and we finally came out with a backup plan. thanks darren, for helping us out.
oh yea, the jam today was HORRIBLE! i took almost 2 hours just to reach damansara heights from puchong.

anyway, more birthdays on the way!
Joel Wong (15-nov), Darren Yong (17-nov), Daniel Teo (18-nov), Rachel Hoo (25-nov) and Oliver Peters (28-nov i think)
BLESSED BIRTHDAY IN ADVANCE! :)

Chapter 7 (Part 1): The Late Night Post

its 3.23am as i begin to type this post. i've been working on a new website to cater for the data recovery department of Genesis IT Solutions & Services. it is coming along well so far but i'm still working on the home page. will let you all know when it is up! :)

i'll also take this opportunity to say:
BLESSED BIRTHDAY to-
Pastor Steven (3-nov), Emilia Toh (5-nov), Tabitha Ong & Sarah Tay (6-nov)!
november is a month full of birthdays.

Chapter 6 (Part 2): The Reminder

"Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: Be holy, because I am holy." - 1 Peter 1:13-16

so many things can happen in just ONE action made from ONE decision. so yea, let us all prepare our minds for action, because everything we do reflects Him. it is tough, and it is indeed a battle we have to face everyday -- the battle for Holiness.

however, if He is for us, who can stand against us? ;)

Chapter 6 (Part 1): The Split Second

its amazing how in a split second, the things we do can make a difference in someone's life..
just 15 minutes ago as i was driving home from subang, this white myvi wanted to overtake me from the left. his signal wasn't on, but i saw him edging in so i just let him pass as i wasn't really rushing for time..

BANG!!

guess what? nope, it isn't me. this motorcycle came right through the gap and crashed into the myvi that was trying to change lanes. the motorcyclist flew (for sure), diagonally onto my lane, in front of my car. obviously i didn't run over him else i wouldn't be here blogging so soon. anyhow, the motorcyclist wasn't badly injured, minor scratches here and there and the myvi lost it's right side mirror. of course, there was a big fight after that. (i could here them screaming and shouting at each other even with United Live - Solution blasting on my speakers)

this incident might not seem great or anything to you, but take a moment and think for awhile (thats what i did). in just ONE second, IF:
- the myvi edged in faster, the motorcyclist would have flown in front with a further distance, and he would be injured for sure
- the myvi took his time (without signal), the motorcyclist would get caught between his car and mine, causing him to be flatten from both sides
- the myvi took his time (or not) with signal, the motorcyclist could have avoided the entire incident
- i drove just slightly faster (say, 10km/h?), i would have run over the motorcyclist

this incident actually reflects our daily lives. in just ONE second, IF:
- we made a bad call by saying some very crude or harsh words to your loved ones, causing that relationship to wither
- we made a wrong decision by taking your own life, ending up in a place you would NEVER want to be
- we discouraged someone else further when he/she is already not feeling good
- we decided to just try something new just because your friends do it so often(and it wouldn't be cool if you don't) and something totally unexpected (bad) happens to ourselves
- we missed the opportunity to share the love of Christ with your good friend and they went away.........

i'll leave this post just as it is so you can ponder about what i've posted above.

ONE decision, ONE act, ONE second, changes ONE life

Chapter 5 (Part 2): The Courier

[United Parcel Service]

It's also CONFIRMED! :) now, lets start business!
ps. the logo looks like a badge i awarded myself with

Chapter 5 (Part 1): The Updates

ah, it has been awhile since the last update. been very busy as usual with loads of stuff i.e. business plans, proposals. etc etc. first and foremost, remember the Seagate Recovery partnership i told you all about? yea, it is now CONFIRMED! :) praise God for that! its quite a miracle, actually. so now i'm just waiting for UPS (yes, the courier company) to contact me so we can make free postage to US everytime we need to send/receive stuff from the Seagate Recovery Lab.

my next plans? to make this data recovery business BIG, apart from what Genesis IT Solutions & Services is already doing. if this goes on well, i can move on and look for other opportunities. :)

some of you might be wondering about the progress of the Shirts 4 Real (http://www.shirts4real.com/) website. well, lets just say i started all over again because i found a new concept that i think it'll work better than before. a more extensive site, but serves a greater purpose. :) anyhow, we're planning to launch our first range of designs before Christmas! so yea, keep your pockets ready! ;p

hmm.. lets take a look at the things i've to do by early November: PED assignment, Shirts 4 Real website, plans for Calvary Youth, Video Online Malaysia website, plans for Genesis IT Solutions & Services, and still counting.

so much at hand that requires tons of thinking. i really need a team of people for this. people that are willing to spend as much time, effort and commitment just like i do. speaking of Calvary Youth, we're going to have a Christmas Celebration on the 15th of December 2007. plans are still in the midst of drafting but there'll definitely be a celebration. just thought i would let you all know so you would keep your dates free and prepare for this event. prepare, because this is an evangelistic celebration. :) we want to involve everyone in one way or another to impact the lives of others especially this Christmas season. :)

Chapter 4: The Happen-ings

hello all! yes, yes, i know i haven't been updating. this week was somewhat packed with lots of stuff. oh, you say its a raya week and all? nah, continue hearing me out first. lets start with sunday, last sunday..

..

..

sunday
i came home from church after playing for both services and slept. i woke up around 6pm and guess what? i fell sick. i was down with fever. (there goes my raya holidays)

monday
can't do anything much since i was sick. stayed at home and stoned the day away.

tuesday (a meeting-ful day)
felt slightly better, so i decided to go for the CCSM meeting with benjamin and tabitha ong (i just like doing that :P) in ss2 at 10am. it ended at about 1pm then tab and i went to DP for another meeting with adrian lee. and this lasted till...5pm? yeah.

wednesday
class officially starts again but my lecturer took a day off because she is still in her kampung so i've an additional holiday. so, being myself, i started my work again since i've not been working for the past 2 days. called up suppliers, met up suppliers, getting orders from clients, etc.

thursday
back to class! visted the bank for awhile too to collect my first ever cheque book! behold the cheque book:

look! it says: Genesis IT Solutions & Services at the bottom!

friday (meetings again)
went to ss2 to meet up with tabitha and benjamin ong with benjamin toh. alot of running arounds were done this day.

saturday (today!)
i need to meet a client soon at 10.30am, meet my supplier at 11.00am, then go help out in an e-commerce class after that, then go for youth. see, yet another packed day.

oh btw, i've been working quite alot on
http://www.videoonline.com.my/ recently. it is basically a video uploading website, very much like the famous YouTube, but it is only targetted to business owners to post their business videos so that they can embed them into their existing websites and all. the advantage? no annoying YouTube logo at the bottom blocking up the videos, and no related links thingy popping up after the video ends (this also means no competitors for their business will be shown after the video).

its coming along quite well as i've received lots of enquiries and interested ones but its not fully launched yet. so i can say that this project is quite a success :) i'm planning to do it big as well. hopefully it'll hit the papers soon ;)

and oh, another thing, just to let you all know, my hard disk crashed the other day and i lost nothing BUT MY YOUTH FOLDER!!! MY CALVARY YOUTH FOLDER!! ALL MY DATA AND RECORDS I'VE COMPILED FOR SO LONG ARE GONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! thank God i managed to recover just a quarter of it though. but still!

ps. through all the youth meetings i've been to this week, i can't help but feel that something great is gonna happen in Calvary Youth but it will only happen if all of us are able to see it coming. all of us have to share the same vision for CY and for the church, hence the credo is formed for us to see and make things happen.

come on Calvary Youth, lets impact this generation! it is the dawn of a new generation! :)

dont let the spark go away like that. we're geared (ignited), now lets do the work together!

" this is the generation we see: prayerful, passionate, worship, committed, advancing, building, undivided!" -calvary youth

Chapter 3 (Part 2): The Internet Slangs

i've finally decided to come out with a short guide on internet slags/terms or rather, the well known -- Gaming Terms. (due to the highly increasing usage in our surroundings)

what are internet slangs/terms/gaming terms?these slangs/terms are creatively crafted by INTERNET users at first, and NOT GAMERS. (thought i would stress on that first, heh :P) they are very commonly used in internet messaging. maybe not so much over here in Malaysia, but overseas, yes. they're definitely shorthands and often appear in lower case because UPPER CASE IS RESERVERD FOR EMPHASIS AKA SHOUTING/LOUD. LOL! (you get what i mean)

so, lets start of with something easier/familiar first. *ahem*

1) (the infamous)gg : good game or also used as game gone (commonly used after a game)

2) pwned : owned. also means, destroyed with the quickness and ease with which one would destroy a new player (commonly used in every game. started from Counter Strike)

3) n00b : (typed with two zeros 00 and not OO) refers to newbies in a im-so-great-youre-lousy tone.

4) 1337 : (one-three-three-seven) also means leet. i would say is almost like a language/style itself! where "i" is replaced with 1 or and "N" can be written as "\" and so on. the word 1337 by itself is also used to refer one as "great" or "geng" (lol) too.

5) YOYO : you're on your own. well, it explains itself.

6) WYSIWYG : what you see is what you get

and of course, the commonly used ones that people may not realise they're all a part of this internet slang family:

1) lol : laugh out loud

2) ttyl : talk to you later

3) omg : oh my goodness

4) w8 : wait

5) lmao : laugh 'something' out

6) myob : mind your own business

7) fyi : for your information

8) btw : by the way

9) wtv : whatever

10) bb : bye bye

11) xoxo : [hugs and] kisses (since you all insist) and in any case, it ALSO means Extensible Open Xhtml Outlines.

12) brb : be right back

13) afk : away from keyboard

14) zzzzz : an expression used to show no interest, no comments or just sien

for an example, a conversation between A and B:

A: "abcdefg"

B: "what did you say!? zzzzz"

that concludes today's lesson. if you ever need a dictionary, click here! lol!

Chapter 3 (Part 1): The Ground

it has been awhile (or it feels like it) since i last blogged. been pretty busy these couple of days with uni stuff, banking necessities, work and more work. uni have been quite funny actually, and i don't understand why i'm taking this subject. its called:

PROFESSIONAL & ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT
LOL!

and what do i learn in that module? stuff like how do you write a CV, resume, how to create ads for recruitment, how to introduce yourself, etc etc etc.
b-o-r-i-n-g
but i still find the class rather amusing. this is actually a good sign though, this means i'll have a rather relaxing semester this time round. this ALSO means that i've got more time to do my work. heh ;) for those of you that don't know, i'm only taking ONE subject this semester because i've got exemption for all the other subjects. :)

oh, the Seagate partnership thingy is still looking up for now! if nothing goes wrong and if God wills, we can get this partnership sealed! this is a very very very good opportunity for Genesis IT Solutions & Services to hit it big in the market for data recovery services.

on the other hand, Shirts 4 Real is picking up steadily as well! we're currently running on a project for a very big corporate company. our faithful creative director will be busy coming out with designs soon so that i can come out with a presentation for the shirts. hopefully we'll get the deal sealed too! (website still isn't up yet. i'm too particular of the layout. lol)

its the weekend already. this week went by incredibly fast! i just can't help but to be reminded that our God is a good God. no matter what happens, good or bad, things happen for our own good. we fight, struggle and we always do, wanting what we think is best for us. we always forget that NOONE can plan our lives as well as God does. He knows what is best for us, therefore we should just let Him take control of everything.

surrendering isn't easy. but think of it this way:

surrender = let go, therefore you'll have a lighter life to live. let Him take control today! :)

..and, here's a random pic for today!

the smiling dim sum sauce!

Chapter 2: The Author

well well, with a blink of an eye, my 1 week of semester break is up. yes, ONE week of SEMESTER break. how cool is that? after suffering for 14weeks and now, another 14weeks to come. lol.

let us go through what i've been doing throughout my ONE week of hols:

day1: work
day2: work
day3: work
day4: finally some time off to the movies
day5: work
day6: work + youth aim07 reunion dinner (porridge steamboat)
day7: work

wow, what a holiday! anyhow, some updates for www.shirts4real.com! i've completed some flash elements that are to be included in the website, but i'll have to show it to Brian, our creative director first before making my next move. :)

amidst my busy days, i've also been thinking alot. stuff like.. how am i actually doing now? am i really how i am now? am i what i want to be? hmm.. still no answer to those questions yet for now.

oh yea, one more thing, i want to thank God for opening a business opportunity to me through www.genesis-solutions.org. those of you that knows Seagate (yes, the HDD manufacturer that just bought over Maxtor), one of the departments -- Seagate Recovery Services is looking to have Genesis IT Solutions & Services as a partner here in Malaysia. so far, the other service centre is only in Singapore. though much has to be done to secure this partnership, i still want to thank God for this opportunity. His hand has to be on this else it wouldn't work out at all.

alright alright, on a lighter note, here is something i would like to share with all of you. (do this when you have the time. and don't worry, it wont harm your PC whatsoever)

Click "START"
Now click "RUN"
Type : telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl

enjoy! :) (this is one of the many well known "easter eggs" by Microsoft and i've got no idea why is it called an "easter egg", btw)

ps. this is a pic i thought you all should take a look!

(this is what happen when you buy LOTS and LOTS of pens for a youth conference)

..and yes, there were also LOTS and LOTS of people looking at me too!

Chapter 1: The Busy-ness

this is my third post already and i'm still struggling to find the words to blog. i fail to understand how you people can type so much and yet not make it sound boring, lol.
spent my entire day thinking and waiting for inspiration to come to design the layout for www.shirts4real.com. so far its quite good! thank God for inspiration.

------------------------------------------------------------
off topic: shirts4real is another company of mine that does, well, tshirts! ;)

visit the website at http://www.shirts4real.com/
------------------------------------------------------------

to think of it, i still need to design my dad's company's website. been neglecting it for almost a year. guess i should start working on it soon. ahhh, the amount of work waiting for me. (mind you, this isn't ALL my work but just a PART of my work, heh) but then again, this is my life -- a busy one..

..and i'm doing it for the glory of God. :)

putting God first in our everyday lives does make a difference in everything that we do. at least for me, it gives me a purpose to do things properly because our God is a God of excellence. afterall, this indeed is a talent that God gave me along with the vision: to impact the cyberspace for God.

shirts4real by the way, the website isn't up yet. will keep you all posted! ;)

Prelude: The Light

(the light amidst darkness)

Calvary Youth (CA + CCSM) gathered yesterday at Ben Ong's palace to celebrate lantern festival. it was quite cool actually, to have a gathering to get everyone mixing around, fellowshipping with each other. it has been quite awhile since we did something like that together as a youth group.

the celebration started with Darren Yong worship leading, followed by a hilarious skit (story of chang-er and all) in conjunction with lantern (or mooncake) festival. i’ve got a copy of the skit but uploading it now is somewhat troublesome so i’ll skip it for now.

oh btw, the food was very good! i can’t remember all the dishes now but it was good and that’s all it matters. :P there were tons of mooncakes on the table and being janwong, i finished 2 of them myself. i like mooncakes, but it just doesn’t go with coke or even ribena. the Chinese tea (English, actually. lol) came out a little too late.

(treasures in the dark!)

and of course, it was time for games after food. we made our way to the playground opposite Ben’s house, each with lanterns lit. it was quite a sight actually, to see so many lanterns lit up in a really dark playground. guess what? they’re supposed to do treasure hunting in the dark. lol. some of them managed to locate the treasures (4 cans of coke – scattered) very quickly though.

the next game got everyone busy. they were split into teams and were supposed to burn a wet string into half with just 1 candle, with the remaining members trying to ‘defend’ the fire from being blown away by ‘attackers’ (members from other teams). it was quite chaotic i would say, but it was fun. :)

(another pic from the games)

ps.i know the quality isn't good, taken from my phone, bear with it.

as i ponder upon this event, i realised that we all have lanterns and we're supposed to shine, and bring The Light to the darkness, not just gather around each other because there isn't much of a point for it to be bright just at one spot. lights should be all over the place! it is our calling afterall, to be the light of the world...

Genesis -- The Blog of Beginnings

hi there, i'm Jan Wong and yes, i'm finally blogging. (lets see how long would this last) as you all know, the title of this blog-spot of mine is -- Genesis.
------------------------------------------------------------
off topic (hence different font): i've got an IT company with the name of Genesis too!

------------------------------------------------------------

what does Genesis mean? well, this is simply because Genesis is, a new beginning. Genesis is taken from the Septuagint (Greek translation of the Hebrew old testament) name "geneseos" which can mean "the history of origins", in conclusion: origins --> beginning.

why Genesis out of so many other names? simple, that is because everyday is a new day created in God and by God, therefore everyday is a new beginning. though there WILL be times that is discouraging, but hey, isn't that what happens in life? the trick is to never stop trying to live everyday as new day in Christ and not look back at what hurt us before.

easier said than done, i know. but if God is with me, who can stand against me? ;)

[i'm still learning, too]

let today be the dawn of a NEW BEGINNING in your life. ;)
(just so you know, the pic is actually a sunset)
